HOUSE KHAN
| HISTORY
The Khan House was founded 77 years ago by Kitami Kagiso, who became better known as Khan Kagiso, conqueror and first empress of Hanami. Taking up residence in Aevon, Kagiso settled disputes among the elven settlements that dominated the region by marrying one of the most powerful elven lords herself and promising her eldest to another powerful elven queen.
RULERS Empress Khan Kagiso :: First Empress of Hanami and an unrivaled military leader of her time. She married Lord Luo Zheng prior to her conquest, gaining the support of a vast elven army.
Emperor Khan Kal :: Having spent most of his life within Tissam, whilst his mother waged war- Kal was a very intelligent young man and had a much better understanding of politics than his mother. He was promised to Queen Mei Yi from a very young age and though he never loved her, they carried out their respective duties. However, he failed to understand people as well as he did laws, regulations and legislation and through his idealism, managed to make several enemies before he and his wife passed away.
Empress Khan Aliyah :: The youngest empress yet who has inherited an empire in disarray. Coupled with her lack of experience, many houses see her as an insignificant obstacle to grasping absolute power for themselves. | |

THE GREAT HOUSES

Lily flower current ruler. xx | Chandali House residence.Samil emblem. Paradise flower current ruler. xx | governing. Both the land and the sea are vital to the lives of the Sumuri. And so, as has always been tradition, there are two rulers of Sumi; one to rule the land and the other to rule the seas. Both rulers can be related in any way- whether they're siblings, wedded, parent and child, and so on- but they must have a close bond between them.
There was an outcry when the capital of Sumi was moved away from Hanyu, the only city who's borders extended deep into the sea. Now, the two rulers govern from different cities.
| governing. The Niruni House is possibly the most unique of all the Houses. With a history of leaders who made great generals and captains on the battlefield, it wasn't uncommon for them to forgo marriage and parenthood. So instead of a hereditary system, the leader will choose to adopt someone into the family who they will groom to become the next leader.
Because many of the Niruni leaders do come from very humble origins, this means they are very close to their people.
| governing. The Ulmari House is based in Hwalla, the smallest of the cities in Hanami. It is ruled by a sole ruler and passed down to their eldest child once they are unfit to lead anymore. It is the job of the leader to lead his people up the mountain for summer, on the mountainsides where their people can work the land.
Retired leaders move to become part of the Ulmari elders, who support and advise the leader. During the summer, they stay at the base of the mountain with the guard and the young to prepare for when the others return.
| governing. Starting as an outlandish tribe mere generations ago, the Tuyari have come far and their influence across Hanami has exceeded all expectations. A ruling family that allowed their citizens to vote and speak on an equal level was previously unheard of. But it was through this that Tuya has become the best example of a stable and fair government within Hanami.
Their political tact has allowed great leaders to arise among their ranks, notably Empress Kagiso. But has also allowed them to keep positive relations with the other great houses.
| governing. Whilst Chanda technically has a leader, most of the communities still govern themselves for the most part, only gathering when necessary and paying what they owe to the crown.
The Chandali House is located in Samil, a city originally built around the temple to the gods. It was regarded as a sacred city and the people there did not take sides during Kagiso's conquest. They simply helped those in need. As a result, the High Priest was chosen to lead the realm, preventing any arguments and disputes among who was to take charge.

OTHER NOBLE HOUSES
There are many more noble Houses within Hanami, though their numbers have dwindled over the years. Many of them used to govern their own kingdoms or settlements before the unification of Hanami. Only the head of these Houses and their direct descendants still go by the title of Lords and Ladies. However to most, these titles are just for show as many have had their most of their land and power taken from them.
There now only remain three realms where the Lesser Houses are still seen as very important: Sumi, Chanda and Ulme.
Both Sumi and Chanda still have very distinct and ancient settlements that hold onto their own identities and the Great Houses in both realms have provided semi-autonomy for them. Even on the largest island of Sumi, there are distinct regions and provinces but it's the smaller islands where the lesser Houses have the most importance. Due to physical isolation- their tradition and culture are something the people still hold onto fiercely. Sumi hold an annual Council of Islands at Hanyu. In Chanda's case, after the unification official governing was given to the priestesses of Samil. However the lords and ladies of all the smaller cities and settlements within Chanda still have a very large influence over their individual domains. These Houses gather fairly frequently within Samil to make executive decisions for the realm together as a council.
Ulme is a bit of a special case as many of its citizens still enjoy a nomadic lifestyle and there are still relatively few permanent settlements. Thus Ulme recognises heads of tribes on a similar status to lesser nobility although they do not own any land. Leaders of the tribes are called "sahma" as opposed to lords or ladies.
to create your own house, pm an admin and we will discuss the details before listing it below. Please keep in mind that we will require you to give detailed descriptions of your noble houses and their domain if you want to create one.
