or at least, that's what she let's them believe. Though young the girl has a dangerous intellect and a natural talent for wrapping people around her finger. Because of this, almost all the major houses of the Empire make up her 'friends'.
Despite this penchant for what one might call social manipulation, Malia is not an unkind or cruel girl. She does genuinely love having friends, and she would not have managed to get the heads of houses so wrapped about her finger if all she did was offer them pleasantires. Malia is a genuinely charming girl, and she yearns for friends and fun like any girl her age.
Those wanting to become 'true friends' with the young imperial would need to be loyal to House Khan, as Malia wouldn;t want to associate closely with those trying to destroy her family. But other than that, just be happy and friendly. Malia has a wide variaty of hobbies that are only increasing in size as she gets older and more capable, i'm sure we can find something to do!

▶ Jae-ha has been around for Haru for a long time so he will certainly know of Malia, even if they haven't really spoken or interacted. However, having said that- I can imagine that they could very well be good friends. He is exceedingly playful, good-natured and doesn't want anything from the imperial family except to stay in their service (and maybe some kind of pass to leave one of these days).
▶ But that's for Jae-ha and as for Akira Oshima- it may be an entirely different story given Sumi is not happy with the Empire and ready to declare independence. As far as her knowing about his situation, I think it may be plausible that she's pieced it together by now- many of the Sumi lords and ladies suspect that the 'palace goldfish' is Izumi's missing heir but Akira has never been allowed to see any of them so they can't be sure. So I'm open to whatever position you would like to take on it, whether she wants to use him, stay friends with Jae-ha or distance herself from someone who may cause trouble~~
ulla ▶ Ahanu on the other hand is 100% loyal to the imperial house and has no connections that would change that! I doubt the various people in the palace would like Malia to be hanging around with him but he does like children and is very sweet around them. And by the sounds of it, I'm certain he'd adore her  If she wanted someone to give her rides around the palace when she was younger, Ahanu is happy to do anything please the princess ^^

▶ I actually dropped Malia into your open with Jae-ha, so we have a thread going. Malia has alot of sympathy for the poor boy, because she's very aware he's been brainwashed and lives as little more than a political pawn. She tries to be kind and help him while trying to figure out a way to get him back home, as she considers political prisoners to be 'unrefined' politics, so odds are we could have alot of fun there! ^^ ulla ▶ This is actually one of the rare cases where Malia might be willing to be sympathetic. She'd likely be able to sense the growing unease, since she spends alot of time making nice and befriending the heads of house of the different realm. But she knows part of that is because they've kidnapped the heir. Obviously she can't come out and SAY why she's so sympathetic, but given the situation Malia would want to do all she could to see peace between the two houses and maybe even having their heir 'wash up' on their beaches again. Of course, that depends if you WANT him to ever go home xD ulla ▶ Malia is Imperial princess, no one tells her who she can and can't hang out with! xD She'd probably be very down for the encounter and having someone to play with, because at the end of the day, she's still only twelve and a child. She's been forced to grow up really fast with her father's death and sisters ascension, so just having someone who could give her piggie back rides and let her be a little kid would be very much loved tbh. ulla |

▶ Honestly, Malia is so far above Aoi's station it's probably a barrier to them actually becoming friends. Whilst I think it's likely they've met at least once, given that Aoi frequently attends palace functions for his work and given that he knows Akira, Malia is so deeply involved in a world he views as strickly 'work' that it's likely almost impossible for the two of them to be close friends.
If they do interact, Aoi is likely going to be aware of Malia's station and will be aware of how he, as a lowly subject, is expected to act. Perhaps, if they run into each other enough times (and their interactions as successful each time), he might begin associating her with his younger sisters but that's as far as he'd go. All in all, he tries to avoid being caught up in whatever's going on in court and so is unlikely to go out of his way to befriend a central player  ulla |
