notes here. words: 659 | To anyone familliar with the innerworkings of the palace, it was obvious that something important was going on today. Since the death of the emperor and empress rarely had their been much official buisiness in the palace. Most work was being focused towards the empress's birthday where she would likely make gestures and political statements to establish her rule, and therefore the fact that all day servants and politicians had been running in and out of the throne room was noticeable to all. In said throne room, a child much too small sits on a throne much too large, one of the seats reserved for the imperial family that looks out at the doors expectantly, though the normally calm eyes are mixed with a certain amount of dread and worry uncharicteristic for the young princess. At her beck and call sit politicians and lawmen, as well as diplomats bearing the crest of House Sumi. Here alone the young princess has saved the empire for the time being, has bought her sister time to do her job, but it was not easily bought, House Sumi suffered many injustices, some deserved, some not, and by intense negotiation alone, she was able to, at least temporarily, halt their threat of civil war. But the enviroment was still tense, as now she had to explain to the kidnapped heir of Sumi, a boy who spent most of his life believing himself to be a simple servant in service to House Khan, that he was of noble birth, and he had a mother who was eagerly awaiting his return. Especially now that Akira of House Sumi and Malia of House Khan were to be married. A single guard had been sent to retrieve the boy, it was necessary a servant do it of course, but she also didn't want to overwhelm him, he would already have enough to deal with when he came here after all. When the young princess finally saw the door open once more, she sat up straight and did her best to fall into the role of princess. Right now she had to act, not feel, there was only the complication that, unlike usual, someone she cared about was caught up in her political proceedings. "Sorry for the...escort Jae-ha, I would have gotten you myself but there's still alot i'm going over with the Sumi diplomat and our Lawmakers, todays a big day....for both of us i'm afraid," she explained with a weak chuckle and sigh before turning to the others with a gaze of sterness, that made her seem much older than her tiny age and body would imply. "You are to leave myself and the young lord Sumi undisturbed until I emerge and tell you otherwise," she ordered. It was a strange way she had, she did not check if they understood, she merely gave the order and expected it was explicity understood by those it was given to, but somehow this both eliminated any argument, and gave her the effect of being more stern, which is always useful, especially when the commander is less than five foot tall! The staff in the room, be they officials or servants quickly made their way out, leaving the princess and the newly discovered lord alone in the room together, which allowed Malia to relax, if only a bit. "There's.....alot we need to talk about Jae-ha, but i understand you might already have alot of questions, so feel free to ask whatever you like before we start," Malia explained, getting off the throne and stepping closer. There was still something closed off about her, she was not the same malia from the tower, this was the malia that had become a powerhouse in only such a short time, and yet, she was still going to do her best to accomadate the girl who loved Akira so much, and try to be as gentle as she could in this frame of mind. multiply life by the power of two |
